Mumbai, Dec 16: In a significant step toward empowering local youth from Northeast with skills to avail employment opportunities in Japan, NSDC International (NSDCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), today signed an Agreement with Manipur University to establish a state-of-the-art Japanese Language Training Center on the university campus. The initiative aims to develop high-quality Japanese language proficiency among youth of Manipur and the entire Northeastern region, equipping them with the skills required to access international opportunities, particularly in Japan’s rapidly growing workforce sectors.
Through this collaboration, NSDCI will design and implement a comprehensive training framework aligned with international standards and Japan’s requirements, ensuring world-class pedagogy, assessments, and learner support. Manipur University will facilitate the Center by providing on-campus training infrastructure, enabling accessible and inclusive skill development for students.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shri Alok Kumar, CEO, NSDC International, said, “This partnership is an important milestone in expanding global opportunities for the young people of Manipur. By offering world-class Japanese language training aligned to international standards, we are enabling aspirants to build competitive careers and participate confidently in overseas markets. Our goal is to ensure that talent from every part of India is recognized, valued, and given a global platform.”
The Center will provide training programs designed to guide learners from multiple industries including Caregivers, Hospitality, Agriculture, Manufacturing, etc. from foundational to advanced levels of proficiency. This will make youth employable and future-ready for various job roles while increasing talent mobility.
The youth from the Northeast have consistently been showing their growing interest to availing these opportunities and starting a global career. In this context, the Japanese Language Training Center will function as a bridge, fulfilling the global talent need while enabling youth to kickstart a thriving career.
The initiative reinforces NSDCI’s commitment to equipping youth with globally recognized skills and firming India’s status as a global talent hub while facilitating talent mobility across the world.
