Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce Opens Its First International Office in Tokyo

Bangalore, October 11th, 2022: The Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) has opened its first international office Tokyo in Japan. The objective of opening its first international office in Japan is to mainly enhance trade and commerce and encourage investments between the two countries. Since the city of Bangalore is well known for having reputed educational and research institutions, advancements in digital and Information Technology, start-ups and many global manufacturing companies.

The leading industry body from Karnataka, India, in existence since 1976 represents mega, large, medium and small-scale industries and technology companies in the state of Karnataka, India. BCIC has offices in Mysore and Dharwad in Karnataka state. BCIC’s Tokyo office will be called BCIC Japan.BCIC has embarked on this journey of foraying into Japan to further strengthen the relationship between India and Japan in this 70th anniversary year of India-Japan Diplomatic ties.

The inauguration was done by His Excellency Shri. Sanjay Kumar Verma, Ambassador of India in Japan. Many distinguished speakers from both India and Japan spoke on the occasion giving a call to collaborate and strengthen further the relationship. The event was live streamed and many attendees from both India and Japan attended.

Dr. L Ravindran, President of, BCIC said “This augurs well for both countries. Bangalore has a talent pool and availability of skilled resources. Japan is known for its economic development, quality products, infrastructure, disciplined life, and skilled manpower. A platform is now created by BCIC to have regular and more interactions between Indians and Japanese so that there are exchanges on sharing of thoughts leading to increased trade and commerce opportunities between the countries”.

Dr. K G Suresh, Country Head – of BCIC Japan said “We have taken a small step with the support of various stakeholders in India and in Japan. There exist good opportunities for both countries to collaborate, know each other and promote investments, trade and commerce, and tourism. There is a large pool of skilled engineers in India, and Japan can avail their skill sets”.

His Excellency Shri Sanjay Kumar Verma, Ambassador of India in Japan welcomed the initiative and congratulated Team BCIC India and Team BCIC Japan.

BCIC India and BCIC Japan intend to be a facilitator for Japanese companies and Indian companies respectively to support investments, trade, and commerce, using their respective network of expert committees, consultants, advisors, and govt. officials, taking forward the advancements in digital technology in this virtual world and WFH.

BCIC has partnered with JETRO – Bengaluru, Toyota Tsusho India Pvt. Ltd, Inter Trade KK, Japan and India Research Institute Pvt. Ltd, Japan for setting up its Tokyo office.
