Lilavati Hospital Organises A Free Mega Camp For Underprivileged Patients Battling Lung And Degenerative Joint Diseases Under Initiative of Menaben Helping Hands

Mumbai, 29th August 2024: With rising pollution and deteriorating air quality there is a troubling surge in lung and degenerative joint disease affecting individuals across all age groups. At the same time osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis are becoming very common in late middle ages. In response to this concerning scenario, Lilavati Hospital is launching a noteworthy initiative under Menaben Helping Hands to host a Free Mega Camp aimed at underprivileged patients facing these health challenges who are unable to seek medical help on time. On Sunday, September 1, 2024, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, the needy patients suffering from asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis will have access to consultations with doctors.

Lung and degenerative joint diseases are becoming increasingly common due to various factors such as obesity, increased pollution, sedentary lifestyles, physical inactivity, and dietary changes. These chronic diseases can further cause anxiety and depression by impairing one’s quality of life. Likewise, degenerative joint issues like osteoarthritis induce pain and impact mobility and range of motion. Unfortunately, the underprivileged section of society suffers in silence due to the lack of access to quality treatment and care. Lilavati Hospital is organizing a camp inclusive of essential tests, allowing patients to enhance their well-being.

Our camps are intended to foster community awareness regarding preventive care and timely diagnosis and management of chronic diseases. The Hospital urges needy patients suffering from asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis to be a part of the free camp to be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The camp provides free doctor consultations and asthma and COPD screening involving spirometry tests and Forced Oscillation Technique (FOT). For evaluating osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, a bone mineral density (BMD) assessment will be carried out in patients.

“Lilavati Hospital has long been serving to marginalized sections of the society with a promising approach to healthcare for all. Engaging with participants on lifestyle choices wellness practices, and preventive strategies empowers them to take charge of their health in the long run,” Said Dr Niraj Uttamani COO, Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai.
