Dr. Monika Pansari, Senior Consultant, Surgical Oncology, Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru, said, “Cancer is more than just a medical challenge, it’s an emotional and psychological journey that can often feel isolating. With this cancer support group “Sakhi”, we aim to create a supportive community where patients, survivors, and caregivers can find strength in shared experiences, gain emotional support, and access valuable information about treatment and recovery. By fostering regular interactions through workshops, educational sessions, and discussions, Sakhi bridges the gap between patients and healthcare professionals, empowering individuals with resilience, understanding, and hope. Our goal is to ensure that no one faces this journey alone and that the road to recovery becomes a little easier, filled with connection and support.”
Mrs Prabha Unnikrishnan, Cancer Survivor, said “Surviving cancer is not just about overcoming the physical challenges, but also about finding the strength to face the emotional and mental hurdles that come with it. This support group has been a beacon of hope for me and many others, providing a space where we can share our stories, draw strength from one another, and feel understood. The sense of community here has been invaluable in my healing journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.”
Mr. Akshay Oleti, Business Head, Fortis Hospitals Bengaluru, said, “At Fortis, we are passionate about providing holistic care that goes beyond just treating the illness. This support group reflects our commitment to empowering individuals affected by cancer, offering them not just medical support, but emotional strength through community.
