Anna Qabale Duba: World’s Best Nurse Visits Aster CMI Hospital To Empower the Nursing Community

Bengaluru, 15th November 2022: Aster CMI Hospital’s nursing department was given an insightful training session by Anna Qabale Duba, the world’s best nurse, and a global symbol. For supporting education and waging a campaign against antiquated cultural practises like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in her Kenyan community, Anna, a nurse stationed at the Kenya Marsabit County Referral Hospital, was the inaugural recipient of the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award.

Anna Qabale Duba: World’s Best Nurse

Duba, who won US$250,000 (about Ksh.29 million) in prize money, is now making use of the opportunity to construct a school in the isolated Kenyan village of Turbi. She intends to close the literacy gap in North Kenya’s nomadic rural community. She has made a big contribution to lowering the frequency of female genital mutilation and early marriage through her selfless work with the Qabale Duba Foundation. For her social charity, she was named one of the top 100 most influential young Africans in 2020. She has successfully completed five programmes and twenty projects for the Qabale Duba Foundation mentored more than three thousand people and received more than ten awards.
