Pune 13 June, 2023: Lexicon Rainbow Therapy and Child Development Centre recently conducted a highly informative an impactful training program for the auditors, coordinators, supervisors, and teachers of Lexicon International School and Lexicon Kids. The program aimed to raise awareness among educators about recognizing the early signs and symptoms of various developmental conditions that may hinder a child’s growth in crucial domains such as speech, cognition, motor skills, and social interactions. By equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills to identify and support children with developmental challenges, Lexicon Rainbow Therapy and Child Development Centre aims to make a positive difference in the lives of these young learners.
Dr. Isha Soni, Senior Occupational Therapist and Centre Head, Lexicon Rainbow Therapy and Child Development Centre addressed the gathering for having a neuro-affirming approach towards children and not look at them through the lens of a diagnosis. But to recognize these early markers to facilitate early intervention. Every student is different in a classroom and that adds to the diversity with unique strengths of each one.
The training program commenced with Mrs. Deepti Modak, a registered clinical psychologist with extensive experience in child and adolescent neurobehavioral development, sharing insights into the early signs of learning disorders. Mrs. Modak provided valuable strategies and guidance on how teachers can modify their teaching and learning styles to cater to the specific needs of each child.
Mrs. Jeena Joy, a paediatric speech-language pathologist and founder of Rise Rehabilitation Clinic, delivered an enlightening session on speech milestones in child development. She equipped teachers with the ability to identify red flags and signs of language delay, enabling them to suspect potential speech and language issues in preschool-aged children. Mrs. Joy’s expertise will assist teachers in providing early support and intervention for those in need.
Dr. Archana Kadam, a renowned developmental paediatrician associated with Jehangir Hospital and KEM Hospital, delivered an impactful presentation on the importance of early detection and intervention. Dr. Kadam emphasized how timely and appropriate interventions can significantly influence a child’s future, helping them to better integrate into their school, home, and peer environments. Her expertise in developmental and behavioural disorders in children provided valuable insights to the teachers in attendance.
The training program was interactive, allowing participants to engage with the speakers and enhance their understanding of developmental conditions. The knowledge gained during the program will enable the teachers to recognize potential challenges early on and provide the necessary support to help children reach their full potential.
