New Delhi, India, May 16, 2025: Ideathon 1.0, an initiative of the Incubation Center at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), a Deemed to be University, successfully concluded today with presentations from 14 teams of students, marking a significant milestone in its mission to foster media startup innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.
The journey began with the launching of Ideathon 1.0, a platform that invited students to propose groundbreaking startup solutions across a diverse range of themes. These included digital storytelling, the integration of Artificial Intelligence in media, the burgeoning potential of regional language content, and the crucial aspect of social media literacy. An enthusiastic response saw participation from 31 teams, each brimming with unique and forward-thinking concepts.
Following a rigorous evaluation process, 14 teams were selected to move forward. These shortlisted teams were then allocated mentors, industry professionals, and academic experts, who provided guidance and support to refine their ideas and develop comprehensive presentations. Today’s final event witnessed these teams presenting their polished concepts to a panel of esteemed judges, comprising media veterans, entrepreneurs, and faculty members.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor of IIMC, Dr. Anupama Bhatnagar, said, “The energy and innovative spirit displayed by our students today are truly inspiring. The IIMC Incubation Center is committed to nurturing these young minds and providing them with the platform to transform their ideas into reality.” The Chairperson of the Incubation Centre, Prof. Anubhuti Yadav, said, “Ideathon 1.0 is just the beginning, and initiatives like this are crucial in shaping a dynamic and forward-thinking media and communication landscape.”
According to Registrar Dr. Nimish Rustagi, “The enthusiasm and originality of our students have set a high benchmark.” He added, “The IIMC Incubation Center is an initiative by the Indian Institute of Mass Communication to foster media innovations, entrepreneurial initiatives, and student-led ventures. IIMC shall continue to support selected ideas by providing access to different facilities at the IIMC Campus and supporting networking with different stakeholders in the startup ecosystem.”
