Budding Chefs of Kamaxi College of Culinary Arts Winning Accolades All Over the State

Goa, October 2022: Verna-based Kamaxi College of Culinary Arts (KCCA) affiliated by Goa University is the state’s only culinary B-school. KCCA is in its second semester,  recently participated in state-level live cooking competitions, and came out victorious. Competitions were held by the Goa food & hospitality expo & Culinary Forum of Goa, Goan Culinary  Club, World of Hospitality with the Culinary Forum of Goa and the Travel & Tourism Association of Goa and  Skal Goa in Goa.

With Chef Patrick Albert on the faculty team as Head Faculty Chef who also holds the prestigious Maître Cuisinier de France title, students are exposed to the industry norms regularly. The three-year degree program is designed by experts and encourages students to take up various internships and competitions where students are trained with on-the-job training and how the job scenario will be in the future.

The students participated in Budding Chef of Goa 2022, where Taksh Bhandari & Ashlesha N Mallya came first followed by Tanya Gracy Oliveira  & Jess Tino Miranda, and consolation place was won by Rahul Mulye & Rinald Savio Pereira D’souza. At the Chef Miguel Arcanjo Rolling Trophy for Goa Student of the year award for Goan Cuisine 2022, students had to cook a 3-course meal, and Rahul Mulya won first place. At Incredible Chef Challenge 2022, Goa, in the Wedding /Theme/ Display Cake category Anedra Valenka Barbosa, and Nigella Furtado won the silver and in the Goan Cuisine Plated Category, Rahul Mulye and Shania Lobo won the Gold and Silver respectively. Shania Lobo bagged first place at the Cooking Competition for Hotel Management Students in the Modern & innovative traditional Goan Classic dishes section.

Talking about how competitions help shape good talent, Chef Patrick Albert, Head Faculty Chef at Kamaxi College of Culinary Arts shared, “Goa churns out exceptional chefs year after year and holds a special place on the world map when it comes to culturally rich and talented chefs. In the nascent years of the college itself, we have been forefront runners in inter-collegiate competitions and have been claiming the winner’s place in various other state-level cook-offs. Here at Kamaxi College, we try to train the students to match the international standards and such competitions give them great exposure and allow them to interact with established chefs along with other aspirant chefs and have a good exchange of thoughts and cultures.”

After winning prestigious awards at multiple culinary competitions, Rahul Mulye, a student at KCCA shared, “It was a great pleasure competing at these competitions and representing my college. We are given a lot of such opportunities to showcase our abilities which we students are very grateful for. At Kamaxi College of Culinary Arts, I got the chance to intern, compete and learn various skills which give us a winning edge compared to other students.”

Kamaxi College of Culinary Arts offers a 3-year degree program in culinary management. The institute, in its second academic year, is winning culinary competitions statewide. The college is organizing in-house competitions as well where students from across the state can showcase their talent and get a chance to compete with different colleges.
