New Delhi, August 15, 2026: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has underlined the importance of technology in making India’s logistics network faster, more efficient and globally competitive, calling it a critical component of the country’s Viksit Bharat ambition.
Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Goyal said digital technologies can help reduce delays, improve supply-chain visibility and bring down logistics costs for businesses. He stressed that a modern logistics ecosystem is essential for strengthening India’s manufacturing and export capabilities.
The minister highlighted the role of artificial intelligence, automation, data-driven systems and digital platforms in transforming the movement of goods. Better coordination between different modes of transport can also help businesses move products more quickly from factories to domestic and international markets.
Goyal said technology-led improvements in logistics would be particularly important for MSMEs and exporters, allowing them to compete more effectively in global markets. Faster and more predictable supply chains can also improve India’s attractiveness as a destination for investment and manufacturing.
As India works towards its long-term development goals, a more integrated and technology-enabled logistics sector is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting trade, industry and economic growth.
