Chandigarh, Jan 15: Tata Chemicals Limited organized the Shri R Prabhakar Memorial 25th Open Saurashtra Half Marathon in Mithapur on 04th January 2026, promoting health and fitness amongst the local community, besides honouring the legacy of the late Shri R. Prabhakar. The event featured 2 run categories, i.e., Half marathon (21.1 kms) and a 10km run – drawing enthusiastic participation from diverse age groups and backgrounds.
The marathon started at 6:00 AM, encompassing 519 participants with 114 in Half marathon & 405 in 10Km, which is the highest participation till date. With a total of 190 Tata Chemicals employees, all the participants showcased remarkable enthusiasm, keeping the spirit of resilience and collective well-being ablaze.
Each runner was awarded a medal and a digital certificate with completion time, celebrating their commitment to health and fitness as well as their enthusiastic participation in this much-anticipated annual tradition.
In the Half Marathon category, Pravin Kashyap emerged as the winner, completing the race in an impressive time of 1:19:34 hrs, while Rajesh Nakum secured the runner-up position with a time of 1:29:07 hrs. In the Employee category, Paresh Giri Gosai and Jagdish Sinh Vadher secured the winner and runners-up positions with timings of 1:42:35 hrs and 1:42:37 hrs, respectively.
In the Women’s Category, Sangita Kambad emerged as the winner with a completion time of 2:17:18 hrs, while Pratibha Bhagavanappa stood as runner-up with 2:23:12 hrs in the Half Marathon. Meanwhile, Laxmiben Hathiya and Priti Limbasiya stood as winner and runner-up with timings of 1:13:18 hrs and 1:17:26 hrs, respectively, in the 10K category.
In the Senior Citizen’s category, Navin Bhai Khodiyar and Jagdish Ramnani completed the Half Marathon with timings of 2:49:36 hrs and 3:00:31 hrs, respectively, whereas Kalpana Pandya completed the 10K in 1:46:07 hrs.
Since its launch in 1995, the marathon has become a vital platform for building community spirit and promoting healthier lifestyles. More than just a sporting event, this annual celebration reflects Tata Chemicals’ dedication to nurturing camaraderie and connection among community members.
