Chandigarh, Jan 15: : Ambuja Cements, the 9th largest building materials solutions provider globally and part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, has been driving water security and climate resilience in Rabriyawas, Rajasthan through its farm pond initiative—transforming water-scarce farms into self-sufficient agricultural communities. What started as a response to erratic monsoons has steadily evolved into a proven model for linking water security with livelihood security, enabling farmers to depend on their land with confidence rather than uncertainty.
Over the last decade, Ambuja Foundation has worked closely with farmers across Ambuja Cements core villages to construct 202 scientifically designed farm ponds, beginning with just 8 farm ponds in 2011–12 and gaining remarkable momentum in recent years. The initiative saw a significant leap with 27 farm ponds in 2022–23, 39 in 2023–24 and 60 in 2024–25, reflecting growing trust and visible impact of the initiative across the region. Together, these ponds now have the capacity to harvest 786,514.28 cubic metres of water, enabling irrigation for hundreds of acres.
This reliable access to water has reshaped livelihoods. Farmers who once depended solely on monsoons can now cultivate vegetables, fodder and cash crops year-round, with many reporting 30–60% higher yields and increased income through diversified farming livelihoods and the community has strengthened its resilience against climate variability.
More than an infrastructure intervention, each farm pond represents hope, dignity and self-reliance. With over 7.86 lakh cubic metres of water stored today, the Rabriyawas farm pond programme stands as a living example of how collective ownership of natural resources can drive rural prosperity.
As Ambuja Cements continues its commitment to sustainable development, the Rabriyawas model offers a scalable pathway for climate-smart rural transformation—demonstrating that when water is secured, the future is secured.
