Positive Hack Talks in Bengaluru: Positive Technologies launches international meetups for cybersecurity experts
New Delhi, October 17, 2024: Positive Technologies, the leader in result-driven cybersecurity, has announced the launch of open events for cybersecurity professionals worldwide. At these one-day events, attendees will hear from Positive Technologies experts, top specialists from Russia, and local experts. The first meetup took place in Bengaluru, India, on October 11. These events are open to all cybersecurity enthusiasts—from students and beginners to seasoned pros who are eager to share their knowledge.
Experts at Positive Technologies note that the number of cyberattacks in India increased by 15% in 2023 and surged by 46% in Q2 2024. In attacks on local organizations, cybercriminals used malware in 37% of cases, most often ransomware and spyware, primarily delivered via email. In 32% of attacks on Indian organizations, social engineering was used, while another 16% involved vulnerability exploitation. Over two-thirds of all attacks resulted in confidential information leaks.
Dmitry Serebryannikov, Chief Hacking Officer at Positive Technologies, said: “We’ve amassed a wealth of experience and are ready to share it with international specialists. Our mission is to create a global, equitable community of cybersecurity experts who will exchange knowledge, combat growing cyberthreats, and enhance security worldwide.”
Serebryannikov also noted that the choice of location for the first meetup was no accident. India is a world leader in economic growth and digitalization, and Bengaluru is the “Silicon Valley” of South Asia.
At Positive Hack Talks in Bengaluru, speakers discussed critical aspects of offensive security and bug bounty programs. For example, Anatoly Ivanov, Head of the bug bounty platform Standoff 365, explained how to profit from bug hunting, while cybersecurity expert Oleg Malyshev shared his research on TON blockchain security. The event also offered participants opportunities for active networking and relaxed conversations with colleagues and like-minded individuals.
