Doddaballapura, Karnataka April 12th, 2025: AJAX Engineering, a leading manufacturer of concreting equipment in India, has inaugurated the AJAX SSK Centre for Developmental Disabilities in Doddaballapura, Karnataka. Developed under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, the centre is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AJAX Engineering, the Spastics Society of Karnataka (SSK), and the Department of Education, Government of Karnataka.
Currently catering to 45 children, the SSK Centre in Doddaballapura will now shift its operations to the newly built facility located within the GHPS (Government Higher Primary School) campus in Vidyanagara, expanding its reach across the entire Doddaballapura taluk. The AJAX SSK centre is designed to cater to the unique educational and therapeutic needs of children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, and learning disabilities. It will offer a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment with individualized educational programs, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other essential support services. The centre reflects a joint vision to create a replicable, inclusive education model that addresses the needs of children with disabilities at the grassroots level.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. Vijay K, Chairman, AJAX Charitable Trust, Shri. Dheeraj Muniraju, MLA, Doddaballapur Vidhan Sabha; Shri Bylanjaneya, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, Bengaluru Urban District, Karnataka; Shri. Jagadeesh N M., District Disabled Welfare Officer; Shri. Adhip Chaudhuri, I.A.S. (Retd.) President, Spastics Society of Karnataka (SSK), who acknowledged the significance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing access to inclusive education.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Vijay K, Chairman, AJAX Charitable Trust, stated, “At AJAX, we believe our responsibility goes beyond the boundaries of business. This center is not just a building—it’s a promise to support and uplift children who often remain underserved in our education system. We are proud to collaborate with the Spastics Society of Karnataka and the Department of Education in realizing this vision.”
The Department of Education has extended its support to ensure that children attending the center are provided necessary academic integration opportunities, including mainstreaming into regular schools wherever possible.
The AJAX SSK facility has been constructed with a focus on sustainability, functionality, and accessibility. Special care has been taken to ensure the infrastructure meets the physical and cognitive needs of children with developmental disabilities including barrier-free access, sensory-friendly interiors, therapy rooms, classrooms with assistive learning tools, and safe outdoor play areas.
Built with a community-centric approach, the center will also focus on empowering families by involving parents in the development process and enabling a strong support system at home. Children will be engaged in structured life-skill and motor-skill activities to build independence and confidence.
The campus will also serve as a training ground for special educators and parents, fostering a support ecosystem that enables continuous learning and improvement. Additionally, local community involvement has been encouraged throughout the project to create awareness and build an inclusive mindset within society.
The collaboration between AJAX Engineering, the Spastics Society of Karnataka, and the Department of Education reflects the potential of cross-sectoral action to bring about systemic change.
