Delhi, Feb 05: Mohan Singh Bammi Charitable Trust, in collaboration with Kat-Katha, organised a special screening of the film Mardaani 3 for 100 women from Delhi’s GB Road at PVR Saket. The initiative aimed to create a shared cinema experience while highlighting stories of women’s strength, courage, and resistance against injustice.
Mardaani 3 portrays the journey of a female police officer and focuses on crimes related to the kidnapping of young girls. Through its narrative, the film delivers a strong message of self-belief and encourages women to speak up for their rights. During the screening, a sense of warmth and joy was evident among the attendees, many of whom shared that this was their first experience of watching a film in a cinema hall. For several women, the screening offered a moment of dignity, inclusion, and connection with the mainstream.
Speaking on the initiative, Jasvinder Sikka, Founder, Mohan Singh Bammi Charitable Trust, said, “For us, empowerment is not just about extending support; it is about restoring dignity and a sense of belonging. Many of these women are rarely given the space to simply feel seen, included, or celebrated. Bringing them together for a shared cinema experience may seem small, but moments like these can quietly rebuild confidence and joy. It allows women to step outside the labels imposed on them and connect with society on equal terms. Our effort is to consistently reach those who are often invisible and create opportunities that help them move forward with self-respect and hope.”
Kat-Katha is a recognised organisation working across India to rescue, support, and rehabilitate women affected by forced prostitution. Mohan Singh Bammi Charitable Trust, founded by Mrs Jasvinder Sikka and Chanpreet Bammi, has been actively engaged in grassroots initiatives for the welfare of underprivileged and marginalised communities. The Trust regularly organises medical health check-up camps in JJ colonies, orphanages, old-age homes, and underserved areas, while also addressing basic needs through its ongoing langar services.
