KVIC Promotes Self-Reliance Through Innovative Village Industries Initiatives
New Delhi, 28 January 2025: On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day Chairman, KVIC, Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, unfurled the National flag KVIC followed by reciting the national anthem in the premises of Central Office KVIC.
Addressing here today, he urged to dynamically participate in Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” and work diligently for the socio-economic upliftment of the Nation. He further reinvigorated KVIC employees to uphold the highest standards of dedication, creativity, and service towards nation-building in this Amrit kal.
He emphasized that we as KVIC have added our contribution in these 75 years symbolizing self-reliance, employment generation, and sustainable development. By empowering artisans, weavers, and spinners of Khadi, promoting the rural economy, encouraging the use of eco-friendly products, and fostering entrepreneurship, KVIC is playing a pivotal role in making India Aatmanirbhar and moving toward a Viksit Bharat, he reiterated. Speaking on quintessence of Khadi he said ‘Khadi is the soul of a self-reliant India and the foundation of the rural economy.
Hon’ble Chairman encouraged all KVIC employees and stakeholders to transform challenges into opportunities and build a prosperous future for the generations to come,” he added.
Speaking specifically on empowerment of women in this Amritkal, he emphasized on several ways efforts have been made to rise the status of women through education, awareness, literacy, equal status in society, better livelihood by financial independence Presently around 80% work force are women in our Sector.
He further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and under the guidance of MSME Ministry, ‘New Khadi of New India’ has established new paradigms and promoted ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign. He added that ‘Khadi Revolution’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Khadi has not only revived but also gained global recognition as a symbol of India’s rich heritage. The sales of Khadi and Village Industries products have seen a remarkable fivefold increase from ₹ 31,154.20 Crore in 2013 – 14 to ₹ 1,56,000 Crore in 2023 – 24 in the Country. This unprecedented growth is also reflected in job creation, with over 10.17 Lakh new jobs generated in this sector, he opined.
Under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme of KVIC around 9,50,000 new units have been established providing employment to around more than 83 lakh persons and under Khadi Vikas Yojana workshed amount have been increased from Rs. 60,000 to Rs 1,20, 000. And with the investment of Rs 50.00 crores more than 550 khadi outlets have been refurbished, he opined. Under GVY in Village Industries more than 250000 modern tools and bee boxes have been distributed to the artisans, he added.
In his closing remarks Chairman KVIC averred to buy Swadeshi and MADE IN INDIA Products. Along-with CEO, KVIC, Shri Vatsalya Saxena, Financial advisor Shri Pankaj Bodkhe, and CVO, Dr. Sanghamitra, other senior dignitaries of KVIC officials and employees marked their presence in respect of our Republic Day.
