Key Highlights of Basanta Boi Utasav o Boimela

1. Basanta Boi Utsav o Boimela was inaugurated by Shri Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Renowned Author. The event was also graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Sudip Bandopadhyay, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Kolkata North; Smt Mala Ray, Hon’ble M.P. Kolkata South and Chairman, Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Eminent literary figures like Shri Amar Mitra; Shri Pracheta Gupta; Shri Himadri Kishore Dasgupta; Smt Binata Roychowdhury; Shri Debajyoti Bhattacharya; Shri Saikat Mukhopadhyay; Shri Jayanta Dey; Shri Sukanta Gangopadhyay along with Smt. Suparna Dutta, Councillor, Ward Number 40; Shri Tridib Kr. Chatterjee, President, Guild and Shri Sudhangshu Sekhar Dey, Honorary General Secretary, Guild were also present during the occasion.

2. Basanta Utsav o Boimela to be celebrated every year, marking its inaugural year.

3. This book fair is scheduled from March 6th to March 12th, 2024 at College Square.

4. An approximate count of 60 stalls are present in this book fair.

5. Around 70 renowned publishers are participating in the fair.

6. The closing day of this book fair will have distribution of colours, pichkaries and books to 250 children

7. Two gates of the fair have been made, each honouring literary icons: Jibanananda Das and Michael Madhusudan Dutta.

8. This fair has been organised by Kolkata Municipal Corporation’s Ward 40, with the support of Publishers and Booksellers Guild.
