ICC Becomes A Global Voice For Indian Leather Industry

Kolkata, 8th April 2024: Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Indian Leather Products Association (ILPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU is aimed to facilitate collaborative initiatives in the domain of leather and fostering a conducive environment for growth of leather business. The conference also noted the inception of the ICC Leather Committee which will work to promote the dynamic industry. The launch of ICC Expert Committee on Leather which will execute industrious programs to uphold the interest of the Indian Leather Sector. In coming days, the committee will mount international delegations and develop a beneficial ecosystem for the sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Md Azhar, Sr Vice President ILPA, said, “This partnership aims to create a vibrant forum through policy advocacy, promote economic cooperation and organize events that benefit our members and the leather product industry at large.”

Mr Ameya Prabhu, President ICC, said that with the signing of the MoU, members of ILPA will get access to the 15 overseas chapters of ICC towards marketing and exporting of their products.

Shri Anurag Srivastav having served as Indian Administrative Officer in West Bengal and now representing PwC as Partner Industry Promotion apprised the forum about nuances of sustainable practices in the leather sector.

Mr Naresh Juneja, Chairman, ICC National Expert Committee on Leather, said that the MoU between ICC & ILPA will provide a broad platform for networking and trust building among all stakeholders. a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Chamber of Commerce and The Indian Leather Products Association (ILPA). This agreement aims to facilitate collaborative initiatives in the domain of leather, fostering a conducive environment for business growth and development in our economy.

The conference was well attended by Senior officials from SME SBI, MSME DFO, Government of India, Scientist from CLRI and Leather Industry Stakeholders.
