The initiative aims to equip academic and research institutions with advanced AI infrastructure, enabling students, researchers and innovators to develop data-driven solutions across sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, governance and industry.
The proposed AI labs will serve as centres for skill development, experimentation and research, helping institutions build expertise in emerging technologies and prepare a future-ready workforce.
The move is part of the broader IndiaAI Mission, which focuses on strengthening India’s artificial intelligence ecosystem through improved computing infrastructure, talent development, research support, responsible AI adoption and collaboration between academia, industry and government.
Officials said the initiative will encourage innovation at the grassroots level and help Gujarat play a larger role in India’s growing AI landscape by creating more opportunities for students, startups and researchers.
