Chandigarh, Apr 23: Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) organised a dedicated Customer Contact Programme at its office for industrial consumers, including members of the Furniture Association, aimed at strengthening engagement and enhancing awareness on key aspects of power usage, billing and consumer services.
The session focused on providing clarity on the billing framework, enabling industrial consumers to better understand bill calculations, including energy consumption, applicable tariffs and fixed charges. CPDL officials highlighted that all charges are implemented in accordance with the guidelines of the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC), ensuring transparency and regulatory compliance. The initiative helped address queries and reduce ambiguity around billing processes, allowing industries to plan and manage their electricity expenses more effectively.
As part of the programme, CPDL also showcased its digital service offerings, designed to improve ease of access and convenience for consumers. Participants were informed about facilities such as online bill viewing and downloads, digital payments, KYC updates and real-time outage notifications through the official website. These digital interventions aim to minimise dependency on physical processes while ensuring seamless and efficient service delivery.
Recognising the critical importance of uninterrupted operations for industries, CPDL highlighted its on-the-spot issue resolution mechanisms, which enable faster redressal of consumer concerns. Dedicated teams are deployed to address service-related and billing issues promptly, thereby reducing downtime and ensuring business continuity for industrial users.
A key highlight of the session was awareness around efficient power usage, particularly the importance of maintaining an optimal power factor. CPDL officials explained that power factor reflects how efficiently electricity is utilised, and that industrial operations often involve inductive loads that can reduce efficiency. By installing capacitors, consumers can improve their power factor closer to the ideal level of 1, which helps reduce energy losses, enhance equipment performance and avoid additional charges on electricity bills.
A CPDL said, “We are committed to supporting industrial consumers with reliable power supply, transparent billing and efficient service delivery. Through initiatives such as customer contact programmes, we aim to directly engage with industry stakeholders, address their concerns and promote efficient power usage practices that help reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.”
The programme witnessed active participation from members of the Furniture Association, reflecting strong industry interest. CPDL reiterated its commitment to continuous engagement and to delivering consumer-centric, technology-driven power distribution services across Chandigarh.
