Nagpur, June 10, 2024: To mark World Environment Day ‘24, Axis Bank, one of the largest private sector banks in India, organized ‘Open for the Planet Clean-A-Thon’– a cleanliness drive at Japanese Garden in Nagpur. More than 150+ volunteers including the Bank’s branch employees, local communities, environmental activists/influencers, local authorities participated in this initiative and collected 132 kg of waste from the tourist site. The volunteers also educated the local people about the importance of environmental sustainability and cleanliness. Mrs. Sarika Vairagade, Range Forest Officer (RFO); Mr. Rajeev Kumar, Circle Head, Nagpur Circle, Axis Bank & Dr. Jaydeep Das, NGO CHIP graced the occasion with their presence.
The Bank’s ‘Open for the Planet’ Clean-a-thon campaign will run from 5th – 12th June, covering 20+ high-footfall tourist destinations across India, including cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Varanasi, New Delhi, Guwahati, Vishakhapatnam, and Hyderabad. This initiative aligns with the United Nations’ overarching theme for World Environment Day 2024: “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.”
