July 29: Avio Smart Market Stack Limited (ASMS), formerly known as Bartronics India Ltd., has entered into a strategic MoU with ProClime Services Private Limited to jointly develop and commercialise next-generation biochar-based soil enhancement solutions designed to improve agricultural productivity while contributing to India’s climate action goals.
The collaboration brings together ASMS’s extensive rural network, agricultural expertise and formulation capabilities with ProClime’s specialisation in biochar production and carbon project development. Together, the two companies will focus on developing scientifically validated biochar-integrated fertiliser formulations that enhance soil fertility, improve water retention, increase crop productivity, and enable long-term carbon sequestration.
As part of the collaboration, both organisations will undertake research, laboratory analysis proposed to be undertaken at IIT Roorkee, field trials, and agronomic validation across multiple crop varieties, soil types, and agro-climatic conditions. The initiative will also evaluate biochar produced from sustainable feedstocks such as bamboo, lantana, senna, pine needles and agricultural residues to determine optimal formulations for commercial deployment.
The partnership also seeks to create pathways for generating verified carbon credits through biochar application, enabling farmers and agricultural stakeholders to benefit from emerging carbon markets while adopting sustainable farming practices.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Raja Krishna Murthy Morla, Head – Agri Tech Business, Avio Smart Market Stack (ASMS), said: “Agriculture today requires solutions that improve farm productivity while addressing long-term environmental challenges. Through this collaboration with ProClime, we aim to develop innovative biochar-based products that support healthier soils, improve crop performance and create measurable climate impact. By combining scientific research with our rural ecosystem, we aspire to deliver sustainable solutions that benefit both farmers and the environment.”
Mr. Vijaykumar Rangaraju, Chief Mission Officer, ProClime Services Private Limited, said: “Biochar represents one of the most promising technologies for regenerative agriculture and durable carbon removal. Partnering with ASMS enables us to combine advanced climate solutions with deep agricultural reach, accelerating the adoption of biochar across India’s farming ecosystem. Together, we hope to build scalable solutions that generate environmental, agricultural, and economic value.”
The collaboration will leverage ASMS’s presence across more than 5,000 villages and its extensive engagement with rural communities, while utilizing ProClime’s expertise in sustainable biochar production and climate project implementation. Both companies will work towards developing commercially viable products that support regenerative agriculture, strengthen soil ecosystems, and contribute to India’s net-zero ambitions.
By integrating agricultural innovation with climate-focused technologies, the partnership aims to promote sustainable farming practices that deliver tangible benefits to farmers while supporting global carbon reduction efforts.
