According to the TeamLease EdTech Career Outlook Report (July–December 2024), the year saw hiring intent for freshers rise to 72%, with several cities standing out as hotspots for career opportunities. Here’s a look back at the top cities where freshers found the most openings and growth this year:
1. Bangalore (74%)
Bangalore solidified its reputation as India’s tech capital, leading fresher hiring with a 74% hiring intent. Abundant opportunities in IT and e-commerce sectors supported roles like Full Stack Developer, Data Analyst, and Digital Sales Associate, making it a top destination for tech-oriented freshers.
2. Mumbai (60%)
Mumbai, India’s media hub, maintained a 16% hiring intent. Freshers interested in real estate, digital marketing, and educational services found ample opportunities, driven by the city’s media, marketing, and financial powerhouses.
3. Chennai (54%)
With a strong focus on engineering and manufacturing, Chennai recorded a 54% hiring intent. This year, freshers stepped into roles in supply chain management, engineering, and quality assurance, capitalizing on the city’s expanding industrial base.
4. Delhi (47%)
With a hiring intent of 47%, Delhi provided a broad array of job opportunities for freshers in IT, hospitality, and consulting. The city’s diverse industries made it an attractive choice for those entering fields like consulting, client management, and IT services.
5. Hyderabad (46%)
Known for its tech and pharmaceutical industries, Hyderabad had a 46% hiring intent, offering freshers roles in data engineering, full-stack development, and IT services, aligning with the city’s rapid technological growth.
6. Pune (29%)
Pune established growth in e-commerce and healthcare, with a 29% hiring intent. The city offered job openings in physiotherapy assistance, growth hacking, and quality assurance engineering to fresh graduates.
