25 April 2025 – Mumbai: All institutions under the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), including NMIMS Deemed-to-be-University, express deep grief and anguish over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians and left several others injured. This cowardly act of violence, targeting peaceful tourists, has plunged the nation into mourning.
In solidarity with the victims and their families, all SVKM campuses and constituent institutions across eight Indian cities observed a two-minute silence today. Over 65,000 students, faculty members, and staff united to pay tribute to the lives lost and reaffirm the importance of peace, compassion, and unity in these challenging times.
As institutions deeply committed to humanity, integrity, peace, and empathy, SVKM and NMIMS stand resolutely against such acts of terror. The loss of innocent lives, including those who were enjoying the natural beauty of our country, is deeply distressing and unacceptable.
Shri Amrishbhai Patel, Hon’ble President of SVKM and Chancellor, NMIMS Deemed-to-be-University, said, “We are devastated by this tragic event. Today, the entire SVKM and NMIMS family stands in mourning with the rest of the nation. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and hope for the swift recovery of those injured. Terror has no place in our society, and it is through unity and resolve that we must move forward.”
At a time when the country is feeling the pain of the victims, SVKM and NMIMS reaffirm their commitment to nurturing socially responsible citizens who stand against violence and work towards building a more peaceful and inclusive future.
The SVKM and NMIMS community sends its strength and prayers to every individual and family affected by this horrific tragedy. We stand with you – in grief, in hope, and in the promise of a better tomorrow.
