Mumbai(S.N): Fashion and design education powerhouse Pearl Academy hosted its much-awaited annual showcase of student work, ‘Portfolio 2023’, at their Mumbai campus. A true celebration of innovation and creativity, the day-long event was inaugurated by the renowned UN Goodwill ambassador, activist, actor, and filmmaker, Dia Mirza, along with Aditi Srivastava, President, Pearl Academy; Alka Madhan, Regional Director – West, Pearl Academy Mumbai, Antonio Maurizio Grioli, Dean, Pearl Academy.

The day began with an exhibition of student projects that gave attendees and parents a look at a myriad of stellar designs created by Pearl Academy’s future designers, including some that had the honour of exhibiting at Lakme Fashion Week this year. Rooted in the theme, ‘Future Flashbacks’, these collections have been a true labor of love for graduating students across Pearl Academy.

The exhibition was followed by a fashion show that gave students a stage to display their collections and prepare them for the anticipated industry exposure that lies ahead. The event attracted hundreds of school students from Mumbai, who were amazed by the creative work of Pearl Academy students. Additionally, Indian actors Ridhi Dogra, Suchitra Pillai, and Zayed Khan witnessed and appreciated the student work.

“In a world grappling with climate change, designers who understand sustainability are the need of the hour. Pearl Academy students, through their empathy and creativity, are finding solutions to these pressing issues. The installation they have created is not just a showcase of repurposed materials but a testament to the power of design in creating a better world. It is very promising to see how the next generation of designers are so focussed on important issues and that the institute is empowering these young minds to bring awareness and change through their designs”, said Dia Mirza during the inauguration ceremony.

“Creativity and innovation are at the heart of everything we do at Pearl Academy. The exceptional projects showcased at ‘Portfolio 2023’ are a demonstration of the incredible talent we nurture and mentor. We are proud to equip our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the competitive industry of tomorrow,” added Aditi Srivastava, President – Pearl Academy.
