Seoul, February 24th, 2025: SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM) will showcase various artificial intelligence (AI) technologies under the theme “Innovative AI, Accelerating the Future” at Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC25), which runs from March 3 to 6.
At its booth in Hall 3 of the Fira Gran Via venue, SK Telecom will present technologies that can be practically applied in the industry. This includes its core area of enhancing telecommunications services and infrastructure with AI, as well as its recently spotlighted AI data center (AIDC) solutions.
SK Telecom also plans to share the AI governance principles it has introduced to ensure the reliability and safety of AI with the global telecommunications industry.
Showcasing comprehensive AIDC solutions and innovative AI infrastructure
SK Telecom will showcase a range of AIDC technologies developed under its ‘AI Infrastructure Superhighway’ strategy, announced last year. The exhibition includes technologies for sourcing power needed for AIDC operations from distributed power sources and optimally controlling it using AI models. It also features various liquid cooling methods to reduce data center heat generation, and technology that enhances safety by insulating energy storage systems (ESS) with liquid.
SK Telecom will also showcase its proactively developed AIDC security technology, ‘AIDC SecureEdge,’ which employs a Zero Trust framework — known for its robust verification process — to provide comprehensive protection from internal data to devices, applications, and personal information, while preventing remote hacking attempts.
At SK Telecom’s exhibition hall, the concept of ‘AI-RAN’ is introduced, allowing for the provision of both communication and AI services by applying various chipsets, including GPUs, to base station equipment. The company is also presenting ‘AI Routing’ technology that enables optimal inference performance by equipping clouds with large language models (LLM) and devices with small language models (SLM), as well as the ‘AI Orchestration’ solution, which optimally controls complexly connected mobile communication facilities.
Showcasing AI-powered services including Telco AI agent and Infrastructure Assistant
At MWC25, SK Telecom will unveil AI services that showcase the specialized expertise of telecommunications providers. A key feature is ‘Aster (A*),’ a personal AI agent tailored for the North American market. As a comprehensive global personal AI agent, Aster focuses on ‘Life Management,’ efficiently managing the busy schedules of modern users by handling tasks from planning to execution.
Furthermore, SK Telecom will introduce the ‘Telco AI Agent,’ which integrates a telecommunications-specific LLM to accurately handle a variety of customer requests, such as providing information on mobile plans and making changes to them. This can be quickly deployed without additional infrastructure changes by integrating with existing systems.
SK Telecom is also introducing the ‘Infrastructure Assistant,’ which uses LLM and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology to convert internal operational knowledge into a database and provide operators with necessary information via a chatbot. This helps reduce the time spent searching through complex manuals and efficiently organizes and shares the expertise of skilled operators.
“We are committed to showcasing SK Telecom’s wide-ranging technological capabilities, designed to swiftly understand and adapt to the evolving AI industry,” said Ryu Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom. He shared “By harnessing our in-house technology and fostering global partnerships, we aim to demonstrate substantial achievements to our global audience.”
