Bengaluru: There is a shortage of skilled youth in the Navy, and universities should work to overcome this, said Rupak Barua, Director General of the Naval Inspection Division of the Indian Navy, in his appeal to the university.
Speaking during his visit to the Bengaluru Regional Office of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) at Nagarbhavi, he said:
“It is a positive step that VTU is introducing new courses in the aerospace field. The Navy has an increasing need for skilled youth. If students receive proper training at the college level itself, it will be of great benefit to us.”
He further added: “The introduction of an M.Tech course in Defence Technology is a welcome development. Ordinary universities do not offer such courses. This initiative will provide greater strength to our defence sector.”
On this occasion, VTU Director of Research and Development (Aerospace and Defence) Dr. Commander Devendra Singh and VTU Special Officer Dr. Ajit Padyana were present.
