Pune based Great Dane ranks ‘Top Dog’ honours at the Bangalore Canine Club’s Crown Classic Dog Show in association with Royal Canin

Bangalore, 28 Nov, 2022: The Bangalore Canine Club along with Silicon Kennel Club annual ‘Crown Classic Dog Show’ in association with Royal Canin saw the whos’ who of the canine world descend at the Heera Farms near Devanahalli over the weekend. The two-day show was flagged off by Chief Guest Honourable Mr. D.K Shivakumar, President – Congress Party and Youth Congress, Karnataka. While the event saw participation from around 560 dogs of more than 50 breeds, the Mudhol, Rajapalayam, Kanni and Kombai represented the Indian breeds with grace, elegance and great enthusiasm.

The show was presided over by a distinguished panel of judges including representatives from Japan and Canada. The participating dogs were inspected on the basis of breed and purity and were compared and rewarded on the basis of their similarities and resemblance to the original breed. The aim of this show was to encourage ethical breeding and to promote domestic dog breeds.

It has given dog lovers an opportunity to celebrate with the various breeds participating in this show.

The show saw representation not only from proud dog owners of the city but from across the state and country as well. This year, the Crown Classic Trophy was bagged by Great Dane from Pune. The dogs were judged on the parameters such as physique, form, and growth as their per age.

Honourable Congress Party President and Youth Congress President of Karnataka D.K Shivakumar said ‘It gives me great joy to be a part of this event that promotes domestic dog breeds especially the Mudhol hound. It is important for us to celebrate Indian breeds that have been a part of our history and are now also serving in Indian Army. In fact, the Mudhol Hound used to be a part of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army in ancient times. It is now our responsibility to nurture our Indian dog breeds.’

The Mudhol Hound was one of the main attractions of this championship. This breed of dog is widely used in the Indian Army and the Prime Minister’s defence team. It has been in demand all over the world due to its bravery and ability to adapt to different weather conditions. The main objective of the competition was to identify such breeds of our country and encourage people to support them.
