NMIT signs MOU with Bengaluru Traffic Police to bolster traffic conditions

Bengaluru, 21 December 2023 :  In a significant move to bolster the traffic conditions in Bengaluru city, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT)  Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with  the Bengaluru Traffic Police.  The MOU signing ceremony was graced by Mr. M.N. Anuchet, the Joint  Commissioner of Traffic Police  Bengaluru, Dr. V Shridhar, Dean – Academics, Dr Mohan Goudar, HOD of Information Science Engineering, KB Rao, Director- Corporate Relations. The Head of the Departments of various engineering streams of the Institute and students were present during this event.

Addressing the gathering Mr. M N Anuchet, Joint  Commissioner of Traffic Police  Bengaluru said,  “Bengaluru’s traffic is not just a transportation problem, it’s an economic and environmental one. By investing in technology, partnerships, and innovative approaches, we can not only ease congestion but also boost productivity, reduce pollution, and improve the quality of life for all Bengalureans. This MoU with NMIT is a testament to our commitment to building a smarter, more efficient traffic system for all.”

Speaking at the event KB Rao, Director- Corporate Relations said, “This strategic partnership marks the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship that aims to foster innovation, knowledge exchange and collaborative initiatives between academia and Bengaluru Traffic Police. The initial focus involves exploring novel approaches, including the utilization of drones and other technologies, for enhancing traffic management.”

This initiative seeks to address various critical issues related to monitoring, regulating, identifying traffic law violators, and understanding the root causes of traffic congestion. Besides, the strategic partnership will offer internships to the students of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology.   Additionally, it will facilitate the exchange of faculty members, researchers, and professionals, fostering a dynamic learning environment that contributes to real-time solutions for traffic management challenges.

NMIT is focussing towards bringing industrial approach among the students and in their newly formed “Research and Technology Absorption Centre” at Bengaluru campus, they strive to make students to be more ‘industry-fit’ by the time they graduate. This center is exploring and executing a large number of areas/projects where Academia and Industry cooperation is possible.

Mr. KB Rao, Director- Corporate Relations welcomed the gathering, Dr. Mohan, HOD of Information Science Engineering introduced the Chief guest and Dr. Shrikant, HOD of thanked the gathering.
