Pune, August 20, 2025: In a significant step towards making schools safer, Manipal Hospitals Pune and Little Millennium Preschools jointly conducted an intensive CPR and First Aid training program, empowering more than 400 teachers and facilitators across Pune with life-saving skills. This collaboration was designed to ensure that educators – the first line of care in any school – are equipped to respond confidently and effectively to emergencies, both within and beyond the classroom.
The program featured hands-on CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) training by emergency care specialists, along with a health presentation by Dr. Nayantara Das, HOD & Consultant – Emergency Services, and Dr. Abhishek Trivedi, Consultant – Emergency Services, Manipal Hospitals Baner & Kharadi. Topics included CPR, choking, bleeding, fainting, wounds, and falls, followed by individual practical sessions to ensure every participant mastered the skills.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anand Mote, Cluster Director, Manipal Hospitals Pune, said: “Teachers are more than just educators. They serve as the children’s first line of care in their schools and act as advocates and protectors. In a medical emergency, their ability to act swiftly and correctly can be the difference between life and death. Through this training, we provide them with CPR and first aid skills and allow them to feel like they can step up without second-guessing themselves. We are expanding healthcare beyond the hospital doors, empowering communities, and creating a school system that values safety as much as education.”
All trained participants received a BLS & CPR certification, CPR Champion badge, and Suraksha card offering personal benefits, ensuring they are prepared to act in real-life emergencies.
This program is part of #HarSchoolEmergencyReady, a wider outreach initiative by Manipal Hospitals to make every educational institution in the country a safer place for children.
