New Delhi, Jan 23: The Startup Policy Forum (SPF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), hosted the first edition of the Startup Compliance Clinic, bringing together over 75 participants from across India’s startup ecosystem.

The session saw active participation from founders, CFOs, and legal and compliance professionals, who raised practical, implementation-focused queries on key areas including incorporation and name reservation, share issuance and capital structure, MCA portal reporting requirements, and inter-regulatory overlaps.

The Clinic opened with remarks from Ms Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, Secretary, MCA, who emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with startups, addressing operational challenges, and improving ease of doing business. The session was jointly led by Shri Balamurugan D., Joint Secretary, MCA, and Ms Shweta Rajpal Kohli, President & CEO, Startup Policy Forum, with participation from senior MCA officials including Shri Sidhil Sasi, Deputy Director General, and Shri N.K. Dua, Director. Officials patiently heard concerns, clarified processes, and engaged directly with participants.

Commenting on the initiative, Ms Shweta Rajpal Kohli, President & CEO, Startup Policy Forum, said:

“The Startup Compliance Clinic is designed to resolve the pain points of startups around compliance and ease of doing business. We are grateful to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for their responsiveness and collaborative approach. We look forward to many more editions of this Clinic, creating a sustained platform for direct engagement between startups and the government.”

The Startup Compliance Clinic is envisioned as an ongoing initiative, with multiple editions planned. Through this platform, SPF aims to institutionalize a structured feedback loop, bringing real, on-the-ground startup voices and compliance challenges directly to the Ministry, while enabling timely clarifications and solution-oriented dialogue.
