Kolkata, Jan 27: JIS Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region), Kolkata (BOPTER) at the International Kolkata Book Fair 2026, aimed at strengthening apprenticeship training, internships, and job-oriented exposure for final-year students and pass-out graduates.
The collaboration seeks to establish a structured framework to enhance student employability through awareness programmes, orientation sessions, and enrolment support under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) and other government-led initiatives. Under the agreement, JIS Group will facilitate student participation, provide logistical support, and promote apprenticeship awareness across its institutions. BOPTER, in turn, will conduct online and offline seminars and workshops to guide students on apprenticeship policies, enrolment procedures, and industry preparedness.
This partnership is expected to bridge the gap between academia and industry by developing skilled, industry-ready human resources through systematic apprenticeship exposure for students of JIS Group Educational Initiatives. The MoU will initially be valid for a period of one year, with provisions for renewal based on mutual consent.
Dr. S. M. Ejaz Ahmad, Director, Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region), Kolkata (BOPTER), signed the MoU on behalf of BOPTER, while Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director, JIS Group, signed on behalf of JIS Group.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director, JIS Group, said, “This MoU marks a meaningful step towards equipping our students with practical industry exposure and structured apprenticeship opportunities. Our collaboration with BOPTER reinforces JIS Group’s commitment to nurturing job-ready graduates who can contribute effectively to the nation’s evolving workforce.”
