As 2025 comes to a close, the Indian furniture and interiors industry has undergone a noticeable shift from décor-led decisions to material-driven choices rooted in durability, safety, and long-term performance. Homes are now being planned with greater intent, where materials are expected to respond well to Indian climate conditions, daily usage, and evolving lifestyles. This transition reflects a more mature consumer mindset, one that values how furniture performs over time, not merely how it looks on day one.
Over the past year, demand has increasingly favoured surfaces and components that offer consistent finishing, structural stability, and ease of maintenance. Kitchens, wardrobes, and storage systems are being evaluated on how well they age with use. As a result, engineered edgebands, high-performance surfaces, and precision-finished panels have become central to contemporary furniture manufacturing.
With more than two decades of presence in the country, REHAU India continues to contribute to this evolution through localised manufacturing and material innovation. Its Vadodara facility, among the largest edgeband production units in India, supports the growing demand for engineered components made for Indian conditions. Investments in high-speed extrusion, décor printing, and zero-joint technologies have strengthened consistency in quality while enabling faster turnaround for fabricators and carpenters.
Expressing how he felt on the growth throughout the year, Tushar Verma, Executive Vice President, REHAU India & Subcon, said, “2025 marked a clear shift in how customers think about furniture materials. Conversations moved beyond finishes to performance, longevity, and safety, and that awareness is reshaping the industry.”
Sustainability also moved from aspiration to expectation. REHAU India’s continued focus on lead-free, RoHS-compliant materials, higher recycled content, and responsible manufacturing practices reflects this change. For the German Furniture solutions enabler, sustainability is now embedded within production processes & not treated as a separate initiative.
As the industry looks towards 2026, the direction is clear. Furniture is expected to perform quietly and reliably, supporting everyday living without demanding attention. With continued investments in manufacturing capability, material science, and India-focused innovation, REHAU India remains aligned with this next phase of growth driven by precision engineering andpurposeful design.
