Dec 24: Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP (Deloitte India) has expanded its strategic partnership with Google Cloud. The firm will serve as a premier partner, reseller and Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) for Google Cloud in India. The collaboration focuses on helping Indian enterprises and public sector organisations better manage cyber risks by combining Deloitte’s global security advisory experience with Google Cloud’s AI-driven security operations portfolio.
Commenting on the partnership, Tarun Kaura, Partner, Deloitte India, said, “In an era where digital trust is the currency of businesses, our alliance with Google Cloud marks a significant milestone for the Indian market. By combining Deloitte’s deep industry knowledge and cybersecurity legacy with Google Cloud’s pioneering technology, we are building a resilient digital infrastructure for India. Deloitte’s advisory layer will also help ensure that Google Cloud’s security tools are deployed in line with Indian regulatory frameworks and mandates, simplifying compliance.”
This collaboration will support clients in designing and operating modern Security Operations Centres (SOCs), migrating legacy environments to the cloud and adopting “security-as-a-service” models. This is intended to help organisations improve threat detection and response, meet data protection obligations and manage security operations without the need to build and staff large in-house SOC teams.
“The reasons for this partnership are multifold. As organisations across India accelerate their digital transformation, they are facing a combination of challenges, including an AI-enabled threat landscape, rising expectations around data localisation and regulatory compliance, an acute cybersecurity talent gap and fragmented security tools that limit visibility. The partnership has been established to address these needs with an integrated, cloud-native security operations approach that uses AI to help defend against AI-enabled threats, consolidate security data and tooling and provide managed security services at scale,” said Anand Tiwari, Partner, Deloitte India.
The partnership focuses on the deployment and management of three core Google Cloud security solutions, among other capabilities:
- Google Security Operations: A modern, cloud-native security operations platform that enables security teams to ingest, analyse and search petabytes of data at high speed. Deloitte will use this platform to provide 24/7 managed detection and response (MDR) services.
- Google Cloud Cybershield™: A comprehensive solution designed to help governments and critical infrastructure providers build national or state-level cyber defence centres, supporting greater situational awareness and cyber intelligence for public sector entities.
- Google Threat Intelligence: A global threat intelligence capability that combines investigative insights from Mandiant, VirusTotal and Google. Deloitte’s SOC teams will use this to hunt for threats before they impact client environments proactively.
Speaking on the strategic importance of the collaboration, Sandeep Patil, Head of Security Partners & Managed Services, Google Cloud, Asia Pacific and Japan, said, “Security is not an add-on; it is the foundation of all digital innovation. We are delighted to deepen our collaboration with Deloitte India. As a Premier Partner and Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), Deloitte is well-positioned to operationalise our AI-first security platform for Indian enterprises. Together, we are committed to democratising access to nation-state grade security capabilities for organisations across the region.”
While Deloitte and Google Cloud maintain a global partnership in security, this expanded collaboration is focused on the India region, reflecting the increasing importance of data localisation, sector-specific regulatory requirements and the need for context-aware cyber defence capabilities tailored to Indian enterprises and public sector entities. It is aimed at major sectors, including banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), energy, resources and industrials (ERI), manufacturing, large conglomerates, consumer businesses and government and public sector organisations.
This collaboration will also help organisations align technology implementation with regulatory expectations by addressing compliance and policy requirements related to security observability, threat monitoring and incident management. This includes support for regulations and guidelines applicable to Indian organisations, such as those issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA), the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) and other data protection frameworks such as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Jyoti Prakash, Head of Security Sales, Google Cloud, India, said, “The combination of Google Cloud security innovations and Deloitte’s strategic implementation capabilities creates a formidable defence stack. We are empowering Indian organisations with the ability to detect, investigate and respond to threats at the speed and scale of Google. This partnership helps to ensure that our most advanced tools, including Gemini in Security, are effectively adopted to reduce security team burnout and close the cybersecurity talent gap.”
From an operational standpoint, this partnership aims to shift security workflows from a reactive to a proactive defence model by enhancing service delivery with AI and automation. With advanced AI in Security Operations, analysts can interact with security data using natural language queries, rather than writing complex code, helping reduce investigation time. Using Google Threat Intelligence, Deloitte teams can monitor emerging global threats and apply those insights to help protect clients ahead of potential attacks.
