Crowne Plaza Greater Noida kicks off Christmas Festivities with traditional Cake Mixing Ceremony

Greater Noida, 10th November 2022; To bring in the Christmas season, Hotel Crowne Plaza, Greater Noida (CPGN), hosted a fun-filled Cake Mixing Ceremony here at the hotel premises recently. The festivities kicked off with CPGN team handing over the aprons, gloves and Santa caps to the guests present. The team led by Hotel GM Sharad K. Upadhyay, Executive Chef, Saurabh Singh Chandel, Pastry Chef Chandan, and Chef Hardev Singh along with the guests came together to mix the ingredients.
The age-old traditional Cake Mixing was done amid a stunning ambiance with students from Father Angel School performing carols and other traditional music. It’s also known to celebrate the advent of Christmas and the beginning of winter festivities, an usher for good tidings and happiness.
The cake mixing ceremony, cashew nuts, almonds, raisins, figs and an array of aromatic Indian spices along with candied orange peels, ginger and colourful tutti frutti were soaked in liquor and spirits.
Sharad K. Upadhyay, General Manager, Crowne Plaza, Greater Noida said, “Cake Mixing is a traditional ritual hails from Europe and this tradition is followed all across the globe, and without Christmas cake, the heralds of Christmas season is incomplete. We are very excited to host this Cake Mixing Ceremony as at CPGN we seek to provide our guests both local and cultural experiences. CPGN is all set to bring in the festivities by bringing together families and keeping traditions alive, he said.
Cake Mixing is a long-awaited celebration of an age-old tradition, and it’s a fun to be a part of such fun filled activity, said Executive Chef CPGN, Saurabh Singh Chandel. He said, there is a belief that preserved fruits and the process of mixing attracts good luck and harmony, we tend to attract our patrons and people around to come and enjoy the festivities with us here at CPGN.
It will take about 45 days for the cake mixture to soak up the liquor and spices after the mixing ritual is complete and CPGN will offer an array of goodies such as Plum Cake, Plum Pudding and others for the Christmas weather, Chef Chandel added. Chandel said, the cake with this traditional ritual is different than other cakes as it is prepared in a distinct way, the more the ingredients get soaked in good quantity of spirits, the taste gets better.
Amit Chawla, Director F&B, CPGN said, to be a part of an ancient culture is quite fascinating, we all are excited for the Christmas season, apart from Christmas cakes, we have a lot in store for our patrons and guests. Especially in the F&B segment, we plan to make this bigger and grand for all the foodies, guests and others visiting CPGN this Christmas.
