Himachal Pradesh, 02 September 2024: ACC, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, remains committed to transforming lives through upskilling with the Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC), under the Adani Foundation. One such transformative story is of Ms. Kanchan, a determined young woman from Barmana village in Bilaspur near the ACC Gagal plant.
Born into modest means, Ms. Kanchan faced many hardships. After her father’s demise, her mother, Mrs. Anita Devi, supported the family alone. Despite their struggles, Ms. Kanchan’s spirit remained strong. Inspired by her mother’s work at the ASDC Gagal, she enrolled in the Retail Sales Associate course at ASDC, Gagal.
Determined to uplift her family’s fortunes, she pursued her training with dedication and received her certification. This led her to a job at a retail apparel chain outlet in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, with a monthly salary of ₹ 18,000. Her journey from adversity to achievement highlights the transformative power of skill development.
Ms. Kanchan’s success story highlights the significant role of ASDC in empowering the youth with valuable skills and employment prospects. ASDC’s initiatives align with national priorities and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
