In a season of bright light and the sun’s rough kisses, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna dive deep into the ocean’s most guarded secrets, building a couture collection where structure precedes visibility. Coming to life in structured silhouettes bathed in pearls, metallic flowers and delicate stonework, this is a collection that reflects the oceanbed’s quiet grace and savage originality.

The designers say, “We have always enjoyed bringing architectural elements to the world of couture design. The precision of angles, the study of light against shadow, the blending of textures to build form… these are the things that make the work exciting. For Abyssal, we took one step further look at the science and architecture at the depths of the ocean where light doesn’t pass through and colour begins to disappear for the human eye. There is a sense of poetry older than time that reveals itself every thousand feet. That is the magic we’re capturing, like a message in a bottle, with this collection.”

The collection comes together through surface ornamentation that echoes the ocean – pearls, diamantes, and unusual crystal shapes hand-embroidered like artifacts discovered on the ocean floor. These elements do not decorate the garment; they belong to its environment. Light catches on them like frost, creating sparks across fluid, sculptural silhouettes. Veils of sheer textiles dissolve into one another, creating depth and phases of revelation. Here, the veil is not concealment; it is a method of perception.

Colour moves subtly through ocean ombre, a blend of abyssal blues, mineral greys, frost whites, and deep charcoals that echo light diffusing through water, allowing couture to be unveiled the way the abyssal world reveals itself: patiently, reverently.

In Abyssal, every garment contours the body, creating sculpted forms; Every silhouette registers as a graceful shadow before resolving into a sculpted form. Layers upon layers of translucency build garments of optical illusions before resolving into precise structure. Abyssal is a study of stillness surrounded by motion — of flux held in suspension.

The images of this collection were shot on a lightbox, as a way to pay homage to the ocean bed that gives life to the world as we know it. Illumination rises from within the space, allowing couture to be revealed gradually.

Abyssal reflects Rohit Gandhi Rahul Khanna’s approach to contemporary Indian ceremonial dressing; precise, restrained, and architectural. Designed for spring weddings and evening celebrations, the collection focuses on the moments around the ceremony. Cocktail evenings, destination gatherings, and pre-wedding occasions where confidence and elegance is expressed through composure rather than spectacle. With a legacy built over two decades, the house has shaped a modern language of formalwear that privileges structure over ornament and refinement over excess, and Spring Summer Couture 2026 continues this legacy.

The collection is designed for both men and women, Abyssal proposes couture as an experience rather than an object. A collection that exists beneath the obvious narrative, where light, structure, and veil coexist in quiet harmony.
