Kerala Energy Tech Startup chargeMOD Unveils Ambitious Expansion Plans; Set to Deploy 1200 More EV Chargers Across IndiaKochi, March 14th, 2024: charge MOD, Kerala-based energy tech startup and leading provider of electric vehicle charging solutions announces its comprehensive expansion plans. Planning to set up an additional 1000 slow chargers and 200 fast chargers across various states in India, the company plans to establish an additional 500 slow chargers and 100 fast chargers aiming to reinforce its presence in Kerala.  This is excluding the existing 1500 charging stations in Kerala and 2000 stations across India. So far, the company operates around 1300 AC slow chargers and 150 DC fast chargers within Kerala, complemented by approximately 500 AC slow chargers outside the state.

Leveraging its expertise and commitment to innovation, chargeMOD has set new standards in the electric vehicle charging industry by building an entire ecosystem of EV charging, including hardware and software designed and manufactured in India. The strategic placement of AC slow chargers within a 5 km radius and DC fast chargers within a 50 km radius underscores charge Mod’s dedication to accessibility and convenience for EV users nationwide.

As part of its next major initiative, chargeMOD is set to introduce Ultra Fast Chargers with capacities ranging from 120 kW to 340 kW, further enhancing charging speeds and convenience for EV users across the country. To date, chargeMOD has deployed over 2000 chargers across India, with more than 72,000 app downloads from users. Having facilitated over 2 lakh charging sessions to date, attracting drivers to plug in their electric vehicles. With over 120 new subscribers joining the network daily, charge MOD has enabled over 4 million kilometers of emission-free travel, preventing over 995 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions and saving more than 160,000 liters of gasoline.

In addition to expanding its charging infrastructure, charge MOD is actively engaged in several initiatives to promote EV adoption and innovation such as Conducting EV charging workshops at engineering colleges, collaborating with industry and academia for R&D projects, undertaking R&D and manufacturing of high-power DC fast chargers and establishing specific EV charging hubs tailored to cater to a larger number of EVs, including two-wheelers and buses/trucks.

Being the only public electric vehicle charge provider for EV autos in Kerala, the company sets new standards in their journey to name a few, chargeMOD, a startup incubated under Kerala Startup Mission is the first company in Kerala to develop an indigenous mobile app for charging stations. With a network of over 2000 charging stations across the country in 10 states and customer support in six languages charge MOD has 150 fast charging stations. Recently the company bagged a pre-seed investment round of ₹2.5 crore from Phoenix Angels.
