Kolkata, 28th December 2022: Hulladek Recycling Pvt Ltd, Eastern India’s fastest-growing e-waste management company has taken the initiative to distribute a one-of-a-kind, E-waste Coloring Book among the children of various schools of Kolkata.
Nowadays, children of ages 5-8 are well acquainted with electronic gadgets. Hulladek Recycling has taken this initiative to create awareness and consciousness about E-waste at a young age. The idea behind this initiative is to educate the children on E-waste with the help of a fun activity. The coloring book has figures of electronic items that are old, broken, or obsolete. Children can fill these figures with colors and at the same time also learn about e-waste and the items that are included in e-waste.
“Growing up we were not surrounded by electronic gadgets. However, now children are habituated to smartphones and tablets. Therefore, it is important that we also educate them on the correct way of disposing of these gadgets once they are of no use. Recycling is a habit that must be inculcated at a very young age. It is our future generations that will bear the brunt of climate change and we should ensure that they are responsible and conscious consumers”, said Mr. Nandan Mall, Chairman & Managing Director, Hulladek Recycling Pvt. Ltd.
“It’s a very interesting and relevant concept. I like the idea of creating awareness at this age since children are surrounded by electronic gadgets now”, said Mrs. S Shunglu, Principal, of Sri Sri Academy.
“This is a brilliant initiative. Children now live in a world of electronics. We can’t stop them from using these gadgets but we can stop unsafe and unethical disposal practices by educating them at a very young age. To make recycling a part of their lives, it’s important that we start young”, said Rupa Pandit, a Teacher, at Assembly of God Church.
More than 350 schoolchildren attended the program at Sri Sri Academy. The same distribution will take place in La Martiniere for Boys and Assembly of God Church in January 2023, when the school reopens post the winter holidays.
The +2 level students of Sri Sri Academy were also taken on a visit to an e-waste dismantling facility of Hulladek Recycling in Ankurhati near Kolkata. Mr. Nadan Mall, CMD, Hulladek Recycling was present there along with other experts to explain the process of e-waste management to the students. The company plans to engage in such activities with other schools and colleges in the near future.
