Leadership Perspectives
Speaking on the transition, Deep Kalra, Outgoing Chair, WTTCII, said:
“WTTCII is committed to working closely with the Government—at both the Centre and State levels—to support India’s long-term tourism growth and help the sector scale responsibly as a global destination. We will continue engaging with decision-makers to translate reform intent into measurable outcomes. We are also delighted to welcome Airbnb and Hilton as WTTCII Members, further strengthening our collective voice and impact across the travel ecosystem.”
Dr Jyotsna Suri, Chair, WTTCII, stated:
“With the Union Budget 2026 setting a clear strategic direction, the focus now shifts to State-level execution—where investment, infrastructure and visitor experience truly take shape. WTTCII will deepen its engagement with States and Union Territories to improve project timelines, destination management and quality standards. Our work with the Goa Tourism Board and the recent MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu reflect this commitment to on-ground implementation.”
Vikram Madhok, Vice Chair, WTTCII, added:
“To scale inbound tourism, India must strengthen the entire visitor journey—from seamless access and improved connectivity to sharper international marketing and professionally managed destinations. The proposed new visa application platform expected later this year is a critical step forward. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that India’s brand promise aligns with the on-ground visitor experience.”
Ragini Chopra, Vice Chair – Advocacy, WTTCII, said:
“India requires a focused international marketing strategy for priority markets, supported by consistent and reliable execution at the State level. WTTCII’s advocacy will remain evidence-led and solutions-oriented, leveraging our diverse membership across airlines, hospitality, travel services, OTAs, PSUs and consulting firms to help governments implement practical reforms and deliver measurable performance improvements.”
With its newly appointed leadership, WTTCII aims to further strengthen public-private collaboration and advance India’s position as a globally competitive, sustainable and high-value travel destination.
