Jan 20: InstiFi, a Goa-based payment aggregator, has received authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as an offline payment aggregator from January 8, 2026. The approval allows InstiFi to offer Point-of-Sale (POS) machines and Sound Box–enabled static QR payment solutions to merchants across India.
This authorisation enables InstiFi to expand its payments ecosystem beyond online collections to include in-store, physical payment acceptance, allowing the merchants to accept card-based and digital payments seamlessly at their premises. The move significantly strengthens InstiFi’s end-to-end payments portfolio, catering to businesses that require both online and offline transaction capabilities.
InstiFi had earlier received RBI authorisation to operate as a Payment Aggregator – Online on 3 June 2025, following which it went live with merchant onboarding and digital payment services. The latest approval marks a key regulatory milestone, positioning InstiFi as a comprehensive payments partner for businesses across sectors and geographies.
Commenting on the development, Prakash Ravindran, CEO and Director, InstiFi, said, “This authorisation is a strong validation of our compliance-first approach and long-term vision. By extending our capabilities to offline payments, we are enabling merchants to manage both digital and in-store collections through a trusted, unified platform. Our focus remains on building reliable, secure, and accessible payment infrastructure that supports businesses wherever they operate.”
The offline payment authorisation enables InstiFi to address the needs of small and medium businesses (SMBs), retailers, and enterprises, including those in semi-urban and underserved regions where physical payment acceptance remains critical. The company will continue to prioritise its human-first support model, offering real-time, human-to-human assistance to ensure smooth onboarding, rapid issue resolution, and operational transparency.
