Maharashtra, Dec 29: ACC, part of the diversified Adani Portfolio and the fastest-growing building materials and solutions company, along with the Adani Foundation, is driving climate resilience in rural Maharashtra through sustainable water conservation. In Dhakori village, Wani block of Yavatmal district, ACC tackled long-standing water scarcity by creating a critical upstream water storage structure that is transforming agriculture and livelihoods.
For years, despite heavy monsoon rains, the absence of storage meant water flowed downstream, leaving Dhakori’s fields dry by November and limiting farmers to a single crop. To change this, ACC and the Adani Foundation launched the Climate Action Water Conservation initiative in 2024–25, constructing a cement nala bund that now stores nearly 48,000 litres, recharges borewells, and ensures year-round water availability for 96 acres of farmland.
The results have been remarkable. Around 35 farmers are now cultivating multiple crops with an income rise of about ₹18,000 per acre. The intervention has also improved household and livestock water security, creating wider community stability.
By reviving water resources in Dhakori, ACC and the Adani Foundation have not only boosted agricultural productivity but also set a benchmark for how climate-focused, community-driven initiatives can deliver sustainable rural growth.
