Colombo/Bhopal: The globally acclaimed festival Vishwarang, known for showcasing Indian literature, art, and culture in an international context, will be held this year on September 29 and 30, 2025, in Sri Lanka. The event is being organized under the joint aegis of Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, Vishwarang Foundation, and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Indian High Commission, Colombo.

The two-day international celebration will be inaugurated in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The Chief Guest for the opening session will be Mr. Santosh Jha, Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka. Special Guests will include Mr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Sri Lanka, and Mr. Pavan K. Varma, former Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The session will be presided over by Mr. Santosh Choubey, Director of Vishwarang.

Renowned scholars, authors, and artists from South and Southeast Asian countries will participate in the festival. The sessions will explore themes such as the landscape of Indian languages and literature, cultural harmony, comparative studies in folk literature, the potential of online platforms for Hindi education, and employment opportunities in Hindi. The event will also feature a South Asian poetry symposium, cultural performances, and a student conclave.

Scholars and creators from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, and several other countries will actively participate. The closing session will feature an international poetry recital by senior literary figures as a special highlight. During the event, Rabindranath Tagore University will sign MoUs with Colombo University and other institutions working in the field of Hindi to further the promotion of the language.

To advance the global outreach of Hindi and connect the younger generation with the language, Vishwarang Foundation (India), Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, and Vanmali Srijan Peeth are jointly organizing the Vishwarang International Hindi Olympiad 2025. This initiative is being held from September 14 (Hindi Diwas) to September 30 (International Translation Day) across 65 countries, culminating at Vishwarang Sri Lanka.

Conceived by its founder Mr. Santosh Choubey, Vishwarang aims to establish Indian literature, art, and culture on a global platform while connecting the younger generation to their roots and fostering international dialogue. The upcoming Sri Lanka edition marks a significant step in that direction
